Today was the day the whole school was waiting for! It’s was also the day we all got to go to Kelly Tarlton to see real sea creatures and learn about them too. But I'm also looking forward to discover new sea creatures while we're there. When the bell rang the whole school gathered into the hall. I was still in room 1, helping out Mrs William sort out her kids lunch. Then we went into the hall. We started it off with greet from our teachers, prayer then we practiced off our song for the mass tomorrow, since the bus hasn't reached here.
We sang 2 songs, then it’s was the little ones who were off ( Room 1 ).
That includes my sister and cousin and I because we were helping Mrs William carry her kids lunch container.
On the way to the carpark or the bottom of the hill, we found out that their were only one bus?!!
Mrs William were shocked because she was told and all the other teachers that were 2 buses for 140 kids. Then a few minutes another bus has arrived.
Just in time, Room 4, 5 and Room 7 has come down as well. Room 1, 4 and parents came on the first bus that was already here, and some students from room 3 and us ( people who were helping the teachers ) were on it too.
On the way to Kelly Tarlton I was sitting at the back row with some kids. I had fun because the people who were with me at the back, sang songs with me. We also got everyone involved in it too! When we were nearly their at Kelly Tarlton, I made up a quick version song “ Kelly Tarlton, were coming to you “ !
We just kept singing it, until the bus stopped for us to get off the bus. We carefully got off the bus as quickly as we could, without getting pushed by the little ones. When the all the classes came off their buses, we were all in one long line. Myself, and the helpers came back into their classes and lines up in one line. I was so overwhelmed, this was the first time I’ve ever felt overwhelmed over something.Walking to the entrance of Kelly Tarlton of a wish of mine, when I was little. I’ve always wanted to come and visit and to see sea creatures for real. My mum told me I’ve been there twice when I was a kid. But I cannot remember a thing at all.
My first step was over the moon I saw a display of all the other sea creatures that are going to be their. Our first stop was Scott’s hunt. Scott hunt’s is a display, but a house. It’s was a copy of his house. Scott lives in Antarctica which is below New Zealand. It’s was just an example of how things are in Antarctica in Scott’s house. There were a lot of things that I did see in movies, but not in real life. There were clothes hanging and socks. Not on ordinary clothes and socks, they were wool. Scott’s clothes were like a soft fabric, there was his kitchen, and a sterotape but a tape with a tube in the olden days. I enjoyed everything in Scott’s hunt because they were things in Antarctica and things I’ve never seen. Next was penguin, when we got their I was so amazed to a lot of penguin.
Their environment were all icy and covered with snow. Wonder if it’s real snow?! I also got to see a penguin close. We kept moving and we also found out that Kelly Tarlton was made and built by Kelly Tarlton is a man. Kelly tarlton was a place where all the waters from all around New Zealand came too.Kelly Tarlton died in his sleep in 1985. Being at Kelly Tarlton was the best day ever, I saw some cool sea creatures and a Shark too! When we discovered lots and lots of things we headed to a hunt, I’ll call it. It’s was a the “ Seahorse Kingdom “. Yes we did see some cool seahorse. Some of them were also pregnant, I also knew that when a female seahorse is getting a egg, she’ll go and look for a male who has the biggest stomach for space for her egg. When she has found the male she wants to keep her egg, she’ll give it to him to look after well she goes and enjoy her day…. It’s funny….
We also came across a stingray, let’s say three big huge ones! They are called “ Phoebe “. I’ve also learnt an interesting fact about a stingray, is that is sucks food like a vacuum. It’s can tell some electric, like how your heart is beating, that’s if you’re close to a stingray or going to a stingray in the ocean or the beach. Stingrays are intelligent. Toward to end of our journey we all invited for a lesson about how we can keep our sea creatures safe.We were all gathered in a room with a girl called ” Bonnie “. She showed us different awesome ways we can save our sea creatures in the ocean especially the beach. Bonnie did mention “ Rubbish “. The main thing that’s causing and destroying the habitat of our sea creatures is because of our trash. Our rubbish can lead to the beach and make our sea creatures sick, and you might not know you won’t be able to make it better. At the end we also took a feel- touch thing, we got the chance to feel a sharks teeth, egg , skin and a dried seahorse as well. We were combined into five groups. Then Bonnie would give us all of the things I just listed. My group got the bull shark, and it’s was real! It had five rows of sharp pointy teeth and if their adult teeth or any teeth from the shark falls off, it’ll grow back straight away, unlike us human being our adult teeth doesn't grow back.
We said our farewell to Bonnie and to Kelly Tarlton for the amazing day we’ve spent with them. I currently enjoy every single moment of it. I just love school trips! I cannot wait for another school trip! I also wish to come to Kelly Tarlton and remember all the other sea creatures name….
But the most important thing is to throw our rubbish into the rubbish bin.
